Iowa’s Dairy Story
The Northeast Iowa Dairy & Agriculture Foundation partners with Iowa State University Extension & Outreach to provide dairy education for third, fourth and fifth grade classes through the Iowa’s Dairy Story program. The program helps youth understand the importance of dairy farming and dairy products through interactive learning sessions. Students and their teachers enjoy the field trip which includes hands-on learning sessions, farm tours and making homemade ice cream.
Since the program began in 2003, over 12,000 students have learned the journey of dairy from farm to table. The Iowa’s Dairy Story program is held every spring and is welcome to all schools. Teachers looking to participate in the program should contact us.
Iowa’s Dairy Story in the Classroom
The Northeast Iowa Dairy & Agriculture Foundation and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach have developed content which is available to schools who are unable to visit Iowa’s Dairy Center. Teachers are welcome to use the online content in their classrooms to teach the Iowa’s Dairy Story curriculum at their own pace.
